In addition to being a mother and full-time college student, Michele is an entrepreneur, through and through, with her first love being acting and working in various capacities of the entertainment industry. Michele Brock is a long time and devoted supporter of The National Association for Urban Debate Leagues (NAUDL) and The Chicago Debate League (CDL). She first became affiliated with the NAUDL at King College Preparatory High School in the Fall 2003. Michele volunteered to start a debate team at her daughter’s school. Although her daughter was really never on the team, Michele started the school’s first POLICY DEBATE TEAM in 2003 and ran it successfully until the Spring 2007 of her daughter’s graduation year. The King College Preparatory High School’s Policy Debate Team had been the ONLY team in the entire league solely run by a parent volunteer. The team started in the lower “AAA” division and quickly rose through the ranks to the “A” division and had become one of the teams to beat. There was at least one tournament win during Michele’s reign as Founder and Parent Coordinator of the KCP Policy Debate Team!

She remains an advocate, debate judge, and volunteer for the league and has vowed to continue her support of the league for as long as she lives. Her relative goals includes being a positive influence on the young people whom she judges and critiques during tournaments. Additionally, she wishes to spread the word nationally of the support that the league needs from parents, contributors, and anyone interested in starting a league in their school district and also for those individuals who may be interested in working with youth outside of the normal athletic and performing arts arena, which are equally as important to the growth of our young people, especially (but not limited to) our youth in inner city and under served public school systems throughout this nation.

Michele says that she has witnessed first hand the benefits of youth part icipation in Policy Debate. Those benefits includes increasing organizational skills, research skills, public speaking skills, and listening skills. Participation in Policy Debate Tournaments provide youth the opportunity to be heard and taken seriously, to redirect negative energy in their debate arguments and rebuttals while utilizing their growing intellect and knowledge on the issues. Participation in Policy Debate foster dreams of attending college, earning scholarships, and occupying various careers where much, if not all, of what they learned while debating can be positively applied. Volunteers and Funding are needed to help these opportunities remain in existence for each generation of youth. Participation in NAUDL is one of the only youth related activities where it’s not just on the coach to nurture and mentor the youth, but, the volunteers can too. It takes a village to raise a child and after family and close friends, that village doesn’t get much better than The National Association for Urban Debate Leagues (NAUDL)! GET INVOLVED TODAY!
